Gonzalo Medina, the Executive Manager of the Investment promotion Agency, led the presentation of the results of the work carried out by a group of Dutch engineers from the University of TU Delft, The Netherlands.
The research work carried out in the area of Punta Colorada, in the area of Sierra Grande as a new free trade zone and strategic place for the export of Green Hydrogen, is part of the work developed by the province in the field of green technologies.
The research surveyed and established the potentialities in three zones where Rio Negro will be able to export the production of Green Hydrogen. This strategic development in the coast of Rio Negro would allow the export of medium and high productive demand.
Regarding this, Medina emphasized the importance of a research project to take the first step to the export development in the province. He underlined the importance of having an academic work of the highest level, which sets the productive development of Punta Colorada on the agenda.
"Indeed, it is a very important part of the green hydrogen value chain, where we will now be able to have a conceptual work finished on the port requirements, the necessary infrastructure and where the most important aspects for the development of a port that requires a lot of economic development, manpower and activity are identified ", said the official.
Regarding the environmental impact of this type of activity and productive development, the research highlighted the production and export from a base of green technologies.
The development of the production of these technologies, such as hydrogen, is part of the alternative approach of clean energy, integrated and without negative environmental impact, promoted by the province.
"It must be emphasized that all these projects are entirely green. They are environmentally friendly, all designed to mitigate greenhouse gases. This port development in our free trade zone has to do with the fact that all the environmental aspects are considered, not only in the study, in the development, but also in the start-up of the port," said Medina.
This presentation is the result of a collaborative work of the University of TU Delf and the University of Buenos Aires, together with the Investment promotion agency of Río Negro, the Bioceanic Corridor, the Government General Secretariat and different sectors of the province of Río Negro.
